Kwon Sang-woo sues management company
May 9th, 2008 News Flash
Kwon Sang-woo is back in the news with his lawsuit that began in October 2007. The 32 year old sexy actor is suing management company, Best Flow (previously Yuri International) for 1.9 billion won (approximately 1.8 million USD) of missing wages during a 2 year period (2003 - 2005). Soon after in November, Best Flow countered with a lawsuit against the 32 year old actor for defamation.
Will Kwon Sang-woo get his wages back? We’ll have to wait and see.

Hopefully he will win…?
May 9th, 2008 at 3:04 am
Poor Kwon Sang-woo. He earned it, why not receive it?
May 9th, 2008 at 3:09 am
I hope things work out for him! That’s two years of no pay! I’d be a upset, too!!
May 9th, 2008 at 3:11 am
i hope he wins BIG TIME!!!
May 9th, 2008 at 3:18 am
what a funny name for a company, Best Flow, whose
money fails to “flow” into Kwon Sang-woo’s wallet!
May 9th, 2008 at 3:31 am
Hmm? The conversion from the won to USD is wrong. 190 million won doesn’t equal 1.8 million USD. Probably around $180,000.
May 9th, 2008 at 3:38 am
yeah the conversion from won to usd is pretty steep lol. i make that in a week… i wish =( kwon sang woo is hawt
May 9th, 2008 at 3:47 am
now we know popseoul can’t do math as well as translate korean into english.. mae-rong
poor sangi.. i hope he milks those bastards for everything they’re worth
May 9th, 2008 at 3:57 am
i hope my husband wins BIG time with EXTRA money…so hot
but anyway…can someone please tell me how the won thing is when we change them into usd? I’m planning to go to South Korea and I dont want to get jipped
May 9th, 2008 at 3:59 am
I thought I were on the moon when I saw PopSeoul’s conversion. 190 million wons is about US$180,000-$190,000, definitely on US$1.8 mil.

THANK YOU
May 9th, 2008 at 4:11 am
I hope he WINS!
May 9th, 2008 at 4:23 am
wow this is stupid. if he didnt get paid for his hard work… than he’ll obviously win.
he better win because 1.8 mil is a lot of money.
May 9th, 2008 at 4:35 am
shouldn;t he be grateful for them to haveing made him this famous?
this is like the story in ON AIR ( which by the way is the BEST drama ever)
these stars and their mangement companies have real issues…
May 9th, 2008 at 4:38 am
^I don’t care if you made me famous, you better pay up.. the fame won’t put a mustang in my garage, so cough up the dinero… how dare they try to pimp my man??
May 9th, 2008 at 4:41 am
You are correct Steph, $190 Milliom South Korean Won = (approx.) $189K USD. POPSEOUL obviously flunked math in high school
May 9th, 2008 at 4:42 am
lol @ steph for getting owed on the money conversion thing.. yes i’m that immature… GIVE HIM HIS MONEY!!!:P
May 9th, 2008 at 4:45 am
typo, i meant popseoul… damn sisters at least use that website.. lol … GET YOUR MONEY BACK!
May 9th, 2008 at 4:58 am
$180K is not small, but he earns that doing a few short CF? i don’t keep tab on his lawsuits…so there’s this and the triad case he won, right?
May 9th, 2008 at 5:05 am
those management companies suck out all their talent and then keep their hard earned money…i feel bad for all those young celebrities who are too young to understand that they’re are taken advantage of…the only way to make sure you get all your money is to start your own management company…cuz the rest are just going to over work you and keep the money to themselves.
May 9th, 2008 at 5:05 am
The hottie better get his money, so we can finally go on our honey moon.
May 9th, 2008 at 5:12 am
Get a number Taejus, Sangwoo baby and I are going to Chejudo next week.
Anywhoo, yeah, management companies are notorious for being exploitative and poorly run. They are serious just out to make as much money as possible out of their stars. I’m surprised they are able to make any money themselves or get their stars booked as greedy and one-track minded as they are.
I know 2nd hand accounts of such record labels and management companies asking for tens of thousands of dollars to pick up ‘artists’. That’s the difference between getting a book deal and self-publishing (paying a company to public your books).
May 9th, 2008 at 5:22 am
So Popseoul doesn’t know how to convert to dollars ($)?
May 9th, 2008 at 5:36 am
just like stealing a lollipop from a little kid
poor guy
May 9th, 2008 at 6:05 am
190 million South Korean won = 181 070 U.S. dollars
eh..that boy, he rich enough. lol.
May 9th, 2008 at 6:15 am
sooo ok… popseoul does not know how to convert…. that is sooooo sad…
if they can’t convert prices, then I’m really questioning if SOME of their stories n’ articles are actually true and made up….
i guess it just shows the public that you can’t believe n’ anything n’ should always find out where they get their sources or else one will not be informed with the right facts if one needs them…
in the future, i sure will take the time to check any articles, newspapers, etc. of their sources n’ see if i am being lied to…. i don’t even care if it takes up my time…
May 9th, 2008 at 6:31 am
@ vertigo
lol, but still
the managers might be going through some difficult time or something. besides, kwon sang woo is already rich
May 9th, 2008 at 6:46 am
this is why managers are so rich, they’re hoarding all the earnings for themselves. whether or not Kwon SAngwooi rich or not is beside the point. He better win and recieve his missing payheck. bastards.
May 9th, 2008 at 6:54 am
i feel bad for all those young celebrities who are too young to understand that they’re are taken advantage of…the only way to make sure you get all your money is to start your own management company
Well even starting your own management company would be difficult if you know nothing of the business. The best advice would be to study the business instead of focusing on the fame.
May 9th, 2008 at 7:20 am
Does anyone know the percentage these companies take from their clients? And what is the difference between american management companies and asian management companies in terms of taking percentages of income? I read somewhere the asiam companies take almost all of these folks income (70-80%) but pay all of their expenses. I am sure that can not happen in the america with the management companies because of anti-slavery laws. Just curious to know.

Popseoul, your posts are getting to be so boring. (yawns……)
May 9th, 2008 at 9:32 am
Could that be? Two years and no pay … if so, then indeed he will win. I like that picture of him, makes you want to just squeeze him to death! More power to you brother!!!
May 9th, 2008 at 10:28 am
why dosnt he just leave once he gets the money…??
May 9th, 2008 at 11:37 am
Oh, I’ll definitely go after those punks who cheated my oppa with almost $2 million.
Aah, that is why when I gave him massage last night, his neck was really tight. Gosh! All these stress, GRRRRR!
May 9th, 2008 at 12:56 pm
lol @ chuchu “anti-slavery laws”. Those don’t mean jack for wages, just the minimum wage laws. Anyway, my theory on why asian companies take so much is because they practically set everything up; don’t they provide room and board for their stars? Food, clothing, etc? In exchange, they get worked to death for no money, and get to stay out of the military during their 20s. IDK.

May 9th, 2008 at 3:02 pm
oooh. tsk.tsk. 2 years of no pay? plus all the hardwork he did?! he better win that case.
May 9th, 2008 at 3:09 pm

1.9 Billion Won approx $1.8 million US.
May 9th, 2008 at 3:15 pm
i feel sorry for him….
hopefully he’ll WIN!
May 9th, 2008 at 4:30 pm
Good luck with that~
May 9th, 2008 at 4:44 pm
whoah..criminal law.tough one!
May 9th, 2008 at 11:26 pm
@uke
I saw it when popseoul wrote 1.9 MILLION won at first, then she changed it to 1.9 BILLION won after 30+ comments without even saying anything that it was a typo.
I guess because PS wants those who corrected her/them made fun of, or thought of as a blind, or can’t read by the late commenters who did not see the article when it was first posted.
May 9th, 2008 at 11:37 pm
Dun get me wrong, I adore Kwon sang-woo but I think it takes two hands to clap. Maybe there are two sides to every story, we havent heard the company’s version yet.
I hate to say this but greed can get the better of one, even huge stars like KSW.
Maybe negotiations stalled, or the company made use of a small legal technicality that no one spotted previously to hold back payment, it happens all the time in business.
May 10th, 2008 at 12:56 am
Yaikkss..that’s lot of money!!
I wish i had that money hehe
May 10th, 2008 at 1:25 am
i am really really surprised how many people here really do not know their maths very well and yet dare to challenge Popseoul. For everyone’s info, Popseoul’s conversion is correct and for those who say it isnt…TIME to go bak to school:)
May 10th, 2008 at 6:21 am
mmmm he sure is sexy!
hope he’ll win =)
May 10th, 2008 at 6:38 am
hope it all goes well for him
I really like him, he’s a really nice guy
May 10th, 2008 at 7:04 am
Dude, popseoul did mess it up in the beginning. She wrote 1.9 million won converts to 1.8 million dollars when she first posted this topic….. then after 30+ comments, she “sneakily” changed it to 1.9 billion won. Just as what jangeumay (comment#48) pointed out earlier.
Please note the comment#34…. that should give you a clue…. POPSEOUL changed the number but did not acknowledge her error…
Sneaky……
May 10th, 2008 at 11:58 am
Is the court/trial involving jury?? Cause if yes, KSW deffinately gonna win this…But, i have feeling tht he’s gonna win this…
