Jeonju International Film Festival Red Carpet
May 6th, 2008 Fashion & Style, Ritzy Award Shows
Korea is a small country but apparently, there is a need for another film festival. Pusan isn’t enough. The 9th Jeonju International Film Festival (JIFF) runs from May 1st to 9th, 2008 in Jeollabuk-do province.
The film festival will show 192 films from 40 countries.
Choi Jung-won (with Ahn Sung-ki)’s long gray gown doesn’t fit properly in the front.
Jun Do-yeon looks hot in this short Gucci strapless dress but should have stayed away from the heels (although gorgeous)
Kim Hye-na wears a sexy black little thing. Jun Do-yeon’s heels would have looked better on her.
Kim Jaewook & Kim Sung-eun are a good looking pair. Nothing much to say about the dress.
Lee ji-hyun rear is as flat as Hyori’s in this dress. If the back of the dress is the best part, then there has to be something in the back to show it off properly.
Uhm Ji-won’s dress looks like it’s covered in fungal growth.

Uhm Ji Won’s dress does look like it has mushrooms all over it.
May 6th, 2008 at 2:52 am
typo, first sentence
May 6th, 2008 at 2:55 am
i think jun do yeon’s dress is somehow similar to sung yuri’s dress in the paeksang.. (^__^)v, the latter looks more formal though.. i like jun do yeon’s dress anyway..she looks fresh..and fierce (in the words of christian siriano)
May 6th, 2008 at 3:01 am
Choi Jungwon is so pretty~~
May 6th, 2008 at 3:27 am
kim jae wook….hot. (or which ever one is the guy)
May 6th, 2008 at 3:34 am
ew ew ew and ew.
May 6th, 2008 at 3:53 am
how dare you, korea isn’t small country
have some respect towards your own country you fools
do you even know what your saying?
May 6th, 2008 at 4:23 am
korea is kinda small.
i dont think thats supposed to be disrespectful though.
and youre right — uhm jiwon’s dress is wayyy fug.
May 6th, 2008 at 4:43 am
Hah, Korea isn’t small, trust me.
My country’s area is a total of 27,713 sq km, and Korea is a Total of 220,186 km². So reconsider it
May 6th, 2008 at 4:43 am
Jun do Yeon has the exact same dress as Jennifer garner did for the juno premiere
*thank god for glamour magazine ~_^*
May 6th, 2008 at 4:48 am
nice, insulting your own country.
anyways, i really like kim hyena’s dress.
May 6th, 2008 at 4:52 am
that fungal dress is WEIRD. probably looked better on a model or mannequin, when uhm ji won was browsing the collection!
i don’t like jeon’s hair. she’s looking ajumma (compared to her past red carpet looks)
May 6th, 2008 at 4:58 am
omiigosh, Choi Jung-won is just BEAUTIFUL! I don’t care if she is wearing a paper bag! She is just so vibrant!! I enjoyed her in chill sisters btw, but the ending was kinda cheesy. But o well, it was satisfactory and cute!
May 6th, 2008 at 5:00 am
Kim Sung-eun looks awesome! I’ve only seen her on Music Bank so it’s nice to see her all dressed up.
May 6th, 2008 at 5:30 am
jennifer garner wore the gucci dress that jun do yeon is wearing here at some premiere a while ago (juno?). lol. but it’s pretty!
May 6th, 2008 at 5:44 am
I really don’t think the “Korea is a small country” comment was an insult. Korea is not particularly large and yes there are much smaller countries but there are also much larger ones; it’s all relative.
Eitherway, the comments on the fashion were pretty on target.
May 6th, 2008 at 5:54 am
Geographically speaking, South Korea is small. Economically speaking, Korea is big.
May 6th, 2008 at 6:00 am
wow thus basically turned out to be if koreas big or small xD
lol
i think its big. isnt it bigger than japan??
i dunno
lol
May 6th, 2008 at 6:02 am
kim sung eun is wearing a valentino dress. the same dress that naomi watts is wearing on the march 2008 cover of glamour magazine. it’s a gorgeous dress, imho.
May 6th, 2008 at 6:02 am
^ must agree with janeumay
love um ji won’s dress!
May 6th, 2008 at 6:37 am
i think the “small country” statement is relative to the number of film festivals they’re putting up over there. Riiiiight?
Jeonju opened up some studio facilities recently (Jo Insung’s “gay” movie is the 1st to use.) This is all to revive the korean movie industry in deep doodoo.
May 6th, 2008 at 7:46 am
popseoul is half-american & loves to snark on everything to boot.. so what’s the fuss about korea a being small country?
not really feeling the fashion in this event..
JDY’s dress is nice but why do korean actresses always love to flatten their boobs while trying to show off cleavage? it looks uncomfortable..
LJH has what my guy friends in college used to call the “long-back”.. no butt, just a back & legs.. & UJW has the mu-daris, which the mushroom dress doesn’t help..
May 6th, 2008 at 8:00 am
Kim Jaewook is sooo hot…are they a couple? Anyway…hahahahah!! I laugh at this post because it’s nothing interesting…and the stars aren’t as great as the others
May 6th, 2008 at 8:14 am
I don’t really care about the event but more like who attends and what they are wearing. What they are wearing could be worst!!
Can we expect a part 2 for this event?
May 6th, 2008 at 8:41 am
I’m really irritated with the amount of PopSeoul bashing going around here lately. Who cares about the size of Korea? I wasn’t aware that the size of a country dictated the level of talent residing /within/ the country (so can we please re-prioritize here?). Stop taking it so personally; they’re merely pointing how out absolutely IMPRACTICAL it is for the country the size of Korea to have another film festival when pretty much ALL the stars can make an appearance at the previous one, and we all know the only reason why stars show up is to show off their duds. In comparison to the size of America, a country that needs more than one film festival because of its sheer size and the numbers of its inhabitants, Korea is small and does not need to have so many film festivals. Use your brains, sweethearts.
May 6th, 2008 at 8:58 am
Jun Do-yeon’s dress looks awesome!
May 6th, 2008 at 9:16 am
Many Korean movie stars make weird/not attractive clothing choices when going to these events. The woman with the flat butt in the blue dress…Dang!!….what was she thinking??!! Popseoul was on point with all the comments concerning fashion choices.
May 6th, 2008 at 9:18 am
…And that last dress (Uhm Ji-won’s fungal dress) is just GROSS! Yuck!
May 6th, 2008 at 9:28 am
for some reason almost all the dresses look kind of wrong on the people wearing them.. these actresses need to start dressing for their bodies.. not just because they think that particular dress is pretty it has to look good on THEM.
May 6th, 2008 at 9:31 am
Is that the Lee ji-hyun who was an ex member of Jewelry?? I hope not, because if it is… Then boy does she look different. And Hyori definitely wore the dress better.
May 6th, 2008 at 10:00 am
uggh.. fungal invasion. nasty. it looks like little open sores all over her body. @-@
May 6th, 2008 at 10:07 am
they all look ugly!
May 6th, 2008 at 10:55 am
Jun Do-yeon had better be careful. That strapless dress looks like it can be a wardrobe malfunction at any given moment.
May 6th, 2008 at 11:01 am
ahahaha! fungal growth? i love your mind.
May 6th, 2008 at 11:49 am
None of the three wearing the blue dress look good. Why? Because they do not have the behind to emphasize the sexy back! Their behinds are flat, flat, flat!
May 6th, 2008 at 12:14 pm
Jeon Do Yeon looks so petite!!!
I luv her dress!!
May 6th, 2008 at 3:02 pm
I wouldn’t criticize their fashion, since each country has their own style. It may be in-style to them and not to us, so yeah.
May 6th, 2008 at 4:14 pm
reading too much into the size of the country
I agree with the post about it being about the amount of films that are produced
May 6th, 2008 at 5:15 pm
Jeon DoYeon hasnt got a pretty face nor attractive body to show off, that’s why she is forever flaunting her chests. At every red carpet, she wears revealing low cuts to boost up her boobs. She hasnt got any dress sense, some of those gowns she wore were almost dropping down to reveal her nipples. She looked so uncomfortable trying to uphold her boobs. JDY, why stress and pressurised yourself to that extend by “fleshing”, arent you happy to receiving top awards. Be yourself, be modest and humble and get respected afterall you are already a married woman, no need to compete with others.
May 6th, 2008 at 5:24 pm
@Sabrina, I think JDY has a very naturally glowingly pretty face and her body is just right in all the right places for an easy sexiness. The dress is great on her still. Her hair is the problem though, very ahjumma.
May 6th, 2008 at 6:49 pm
Sabrina is correct in sizing up JDY — that actress was never considered ’starlet’ material by Koreans or even pretty. In fact, the fact was able to be more a ‘character actress’ (which is a nice way of saying ’serious actor’) because of homely, unplastic demeanor.
Since her success with Secret Sunshine, she has definitely tuned up her image. I think she’s gotten some cosmetic work done and she wears more make-up, dresses better — over all I think she looks a lot better and more glamorous to match her new status as an internationally recognized actress.
I actually think she looks good in the first dress.
May 6th, 2008 at 9:20 pm
I’ve seen JDY before in “My Mother is a mermaid”. I never think that JDY is a pretty actress but i can see “something” in her face. I mean there’s plenty scene in those movie, and my comment is ” wow, she’s pretty or cute”.
Then, after watching Secret Sunshine. I was stunning!! She’s acting like crazy!! Really pulled me to the movie though…
I agree with Sabrina, she doesnt need to push her fashion sense to the limit like average actress. Because she’s already stunning!! Just be elegant ^^
I’m really seeing her next move ^^
May 6th, 2008 at 9:25 pm
Well everybody I like JDY and I think she is okay too many times nietzens focus on how pretty some actresses are but they can’t act worth a damn I do feel JDY shouldve been nominated for an Oscar though for Secret Sunshine.
May 7th, 2008 at 12:40 am
THIS IS NOT THE ANGLE FOR HER PICTURES ><;;
buh she is an amazing actor
May 7th, 2008 at 3:54 am
Jun Do Hyeon’s hair looks gross and it just shows her big forehead. And whats up with kim hyena’s ssukso in the first pic? LMAO
May 9th, 2008 at 5:54 am
lol look at Jun Do-yeon’s tits
May 9th, 2008 at 9:00 am
[…] at the “Juno” premiere in December 2007 and now Jun Do-yeon wears a hemmed up version at the Jeonju International Film Festival (JIFF) in May […]
May 11th, 2008 at 5:32 am
I commend Korea for having so many film festivals. The most daring Cinema is coming out of Korea. Or at least it used to. I haven’t seen a good Korean film the last couple of years except for The Chaser. Long live JIFF. May it churn out many more Kim Ki Duks, Bong Joon Ho, Kim Jee Woon etc.
